Gelsomino is a love story, the story of love at first sight between the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de' Medici, and his "Stufa dei Mugherini".
The fragrance is a tribute to Sambac Jasmine, the Duke's favorite flower, which arrived from Goa in 1688. He had a hot jasmine greenhouse built in the Villa Medici in Castello and banned its cultivation throughout the kingdom. Gelsomino Eau de Parfum brings this history into our daily lives, opening with notes of bergamot in the top note. In the heart, jasmine bursts into an explosion of intoxicating rose and tuberose flowers, and finally rests on a bed of musk and vanilla.
Born in 1221, the Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella is considered the oldest pharmacy in the world. Founded by Dominican friars, its history began when they had access to Santa Maria Inter Vineas, a small church outside Florence. There they cultivated herbs and plants in its garden to make medicines, ointments and balms. In 1334, Santa Maria Novella became known for treating a wealthy merchant from one of the most powerful families in Florence. Today the house is known worldwide for its perfumes, candles and "traditional preparations".
