A Parisian bazaar at the corner of rue Pontoise, philosophical, political, cultural meetings around important personalities such as Sartre, Camus or Vadim. The nightlife and intellectual life of Paris in the 1960s is associated with the scents of ginger, citrus and juniper berries. An inspiring place for the three creators who tell each other about their findings around notes of magnolia, rose, ylang-ylang and metallic notes. Ideas then spring up thanks to notes of musk, patchouli and of course the mytic scent of tobacco. A post-war breath of freedom where anything is possible.
The brand was founded in 1961 by three singular personalities united by a strong aesthetic alchemy: Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet. Fed with a common passion for drawing, they start creating motifs for fabrics and wallpapers, and decide to open their first shop with two entrances (like a diptych) in Paris, Boulevard Saint Germain.
