The wood of Oud or "wood of Gods" is one of the rarest and oldest species of perfume. Palao is the name of the essence of Oud from Northern Laos. The scented candle Oud is an interweaving of oud wood, vanilla and rose.

The brand was founded in 1961 by three singular personalities united by a strong aesthetic alchemy: Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet. Fed with a common passion for drawing, they start creating motifs for fabrics and wallpapers, and decide to open their first shop with two entrances (like a diptych) in Paris, Boulevard Saint Germain.
