The art of millesime
Often associated with fine wines, the vintage process is an ancient technique used by reed to create its fragrances. Fragrances that are born in the family workshop, in the heart of the meadows of Fontainebleau. A know-how transmitted from generation to generation in this family of craftsmen, artists and exceptional perfumers. It is here that Olivier and Erwin have taken up the torch and put their know-how to work, creating perfumes that stand the test of time.
Inspired by the travel tales of their ancestors, Olivier and Erwin select their raw materials with great care: the most delicate Bulgarian roses, the most beautiful vetiver sprigs from Haiti or the most gourmand jasmine from the South of France to create their next vintage perfume. As soon as these ingredients arrive in the workshop, Oliver and Erwin smell each one to ensure its quality. A practice handed down from generation to generation, dear to the house culture.
Each ingredient is then weighed by hand and incorporated into a precise formula devised by father and son. Once mixed, the juice goes through a maceration process inside the laboratory's vats, installed in the old stables built by Olivier several decades ago.
After a long maceration period, the formula is purified to meet Creed standards. Olivier and Erwin are present at every stage, touching every element to ensure the quality of each vintage and to perpetuate the know-how for which the house is now renowned.
"The term vintage comes from wine terminology and means 'the best harvest'. Like great wines, the creation of fragrances reflects this demanding process. Our vintage fragrances incorporate the highest concentrations of infused oils and the finest selected ingredients." Oliver Creed, Master Perfumer
