MasterNose

Perfume Education by Nose Experts

Most fragrance content assumes you already speak the language. MasterNose doesn't.

Each episode takes one concept — a fragrance family, a raw material, an olfactory accord, a technical question — and explains it clearly, without jargon and without condescension. The goal is not to turn you into a perfumer. It's to give you the vocabulary and the references to make better choices for yourself.

The Keys to Understanding Perfumery

Episodes cover the subjects that come up most in fragrance discovery: what separates an eau de parfum from an extrait, what animalic notes actually smell like and where they come from, how to identify a chypre or a fougère, what makes certain raw materials more tenacious than others, how concentration affects a formula's behaviour on skin.

Each video is presented by Nicolas Cloutier, Nose's founder — with occasional guests from the houses we carry or the perfumers we work with. The format is short and specific: one subject, explained properly, in under two minutes.

Nose has been educating its clients about niche perfumery for over a decade — in the boutique, through the eNose diagnostic, and now through MasterNose.

The difference between this and generic fragrance content: the people explaining it work with these materials, these houses, and these questions every day. What you get is not a summary of what's already written elsewhere. It's the way Nose actually thinks about perfumery.
