Composed by Bertrand Duchaufour, Series 3 – Incense Avignon is a woody incense fragrance built almost entirely around the material logic of church air. Olibanum gives the structure its cold resinous smoke, while elemi sharpens the opening with a lemony, peppered brightness. Cistus adds a darker ambered shadow, and aldehydes create the waxy, mineral lift of stone, candle and empty space. The result is not a warm oriental incense, but a dry, vertical composition where smoke, resin and air define the architecture.

Incense is not used as a decorative trace or a soft spiritual effect: Duchaufour places it at the centre and strips the formula back to resin, cold stone, wax and tension.
