The Eau Capitale is a tribute to the city of lights before the Great War: Paris.
This celebration is imperative through the Art Nouveau, at the time a current present in all corners of the city during the Universal Exhibition. L'Eau Capitale is reminiscent of the grandeur of Paris, with its 145 districts, all as different as the chypre notes that compose it: bergamot and fruity orange combine with pink berries and cloves for a spicy start, followed by of a floral heart of roses from Bulgaria and Turkey. The woody, green background of patchouli, vetiver and akigalawood brings the final touch to this olfactory ode.
The brand was founded in 1961 by three singular personalities united by a strong aesthetic alchemy: Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet. Fed with a common passion for drawing, they start creating motifs for fabrics and wallpapers, and decide to open their first shop with two entrances (like a diptych) in Paris, Boulevard Saint Germain.
