Mistpouffer, literally "rumble in the mist," refers to a mysterious sound phenomenon: a muffled thud, similar to a distant cannon shot, emerging from the fog above lakes and rivers. Observed worldwide for centuries, it is known by other names elsewhere: uminari in Japan, or Machimoodus in Connecticut, a Native American word meaning "place of bad noises," given to the region by indigenous peoples due to these strange rumbles. Its origin remains unknown despite numerous hypotheses, ranging from atmospheric resonances to legends of invisible civilizations. Translating this mystery into a fragrance took four years of exploration: an elusive balance, misty without being marine, smoky without heaviness, natural yet imbued with a supernatural brilliance. Like a distant rumble crossing the mist, cardamom rises brightly, soon caught by the warm dryness of immortelle. Gradually, the fragrance anchors itself in a denser material: the woody depth of cedars, the darkness of leather, and the earthy resonance of cypriol.
