Black Bee Conservatory
Maison Trudon actively participates financially and directly in the creation and operation of the conservatory. In addition, 4% of sales of the Cire candle are donated to the project.
Since 2018, the company has chosen to invest financially, alongside the Parc du Perche, in an initiative to preserve biodiversity. In collaboration with the Orne Black Bee Conservatory, Maison Trudon works to safeguard the endemic European black bee, which is today seriously threatened by intensive agriculture and industrial beekeeping. This partnership has a deep meaning, given that since 1643, the motto of the House has been: "Deo regique laborant", which means "they (the bees) work for God and the King".
As a key player within the natural park, the Conservatoire de l'Abeille Noire de l'Orne's main objective is to preserve the genetic diversity of native bee populations in France, by maintaining them in living conditions as as close as possible to their original natural environment. This initiative aims to ensure the survival of the black bee, an essential pollinator in sharp decline, by gradually promoting the reintroduction of this resistant and wild species. By collaborating closely with the Conservatory, Maison Trudon shares the values of preservation and good beekeeping practices, in harmony with the way of life of the black bee.
