In this new episode of “Off With Nose,” Amélie, co-founder of D'Orsay, and perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault present Sweet Disruption W.T. — a fragrance born from an improbable love story between Japan and Scotland.
From a love story
Behind Sweet Disruption W.T. lies an incredible true story: a Japanese man travels to Scotland to make sake, but ends up distilling whisky there and marrying a Scottish woman. This fragrance is the result of the clash between these two worlds. An unexpected encounter, a unique cultural dialogue… a gentle disruption, faithfully embedded in its name.
For Amélie, the fragrance is deeply rooted in the history of D'Orsay: sensual, tied to a love story. It is with this intention that she entrusted the brief to Jean-Christophe Hérault — fully aware, she says, that he would take it “completely elsewhere.”
A joyful olibanum: the perfumer’s bet
The brief revolved around olibanum — a resin typically associated with spirituality, heaviness, and ritual. The perfumer chose the opposite approach: to work this ingredient in a joyful, fresh, sparkling direction. The base accord combines olibanum with green mint, creating an expansive and unexpected trail.
The real twist lies in the base. Jean-Christophe Hérault hid a gourmand accord in the dry-down — a modern interpretation of olibanum that shifts it toward something more carnal, while never losing its airy lightness. Summery by nature, yet wearable all year round. Gender-fluid by design.
