Proust inspires a dreamy perfumer

Jean-Christophe Hérault discovers perfumery alongside Pierre Bourdon, a major figure in contemporary olfactory creation; under his demanding mentorship, he learns that composing a perfume is much more than mastering raw materials: it is about expressing a vision, a sensitivity.

Inspired by literature and the subtle links between memory and scent, Jean-Christophe Hérault develops an introspective approach to his art; like a writer delves into their memory, he explores buried emotions, fleeting impressions, sensory memories.

Since then, he composes his fragrances as one writes an intimate narrative, with each perfume becoming for him an attempt to capture the moment, to translate the ineffable, to seize the fragile beauty of a felt moment.
