In this new episode of On Tour with Nose, Lyn Harris, perfumer and founder of Perfumer H, opens the doors to her Maison — a space designed to showcase the perfumer’s craft in its entirety: the raw materials, the laboratory, and the hand-blown bottle created by a master glassmaker.

Lyn Harris founded Perfumer H with a clear conviction: a fragrance should never overpower the person wearing it. Instead, it should work in harmony with their personality and style. This vision — perfume as an extension of the wearer rather than an imposed signature — runs through the entire house.

Among the fragrances she highlights, three stand out: Ink, Charcoal — a smoky woody composition of which she is particularly proud — and Rain Cloud, which she describes as her favorite. Combining dampness and white flowers, it is a fragrance she considers a complete success.

For the past two years, Perfumer H has collaborated with glassblower Michael Ruh to develop its bottles. Each piece is unique. The process begins with the incorporation of color into the molten glass — a critically precise stage — followed by an overnight firing in the furnace before Ruh blows the glass into its final shape. From start to finish, the process takes three days.

The bottle is conceived as an object for life: purchased once, then refilled indefinitely. This commitment to durability is an integral part of the house’s philosophy, just as important as the choice of raw materials and the relationship between perfumer and wearer.

The Perfumer H boutique extends this same attention to craftsmanship and object design. Lyn Harris describes custom joinery inspired by the 1950s, with walls dressed in a variety of fabrics and textures, all designed to highlight the hand-blown bottles and candles. It is a space that demonstrates as much as it sells — bringing together the laboratory, the craftsmanship, and the finished creation under one roof.
