Yann Vasnier, French senior perfumer at Givaudan and the nose behind Réservation fragrances, tells us about the art of creating Suite 909.
Which note in Suite 909 lingers the longest, and why do you love it? In Suite 909, what stays forever is Georgywood, Akigalawood, and Ambrofix, which give a very rich, addictive, and comforting feel — and it lasts for two days. It’s delicious.
How did you translate the concept of a secret refuge into scent?
The whole idea was to arrive in that suite and feel deeply comforted by the elements — like the cashmere, the walls, the velvet — and also by this very modernist touch, with concrete floors and walls. Something very serene.
If Suite 909 were a feeling rather than a fragrance, what would it be? It's a feeling of happiness, in a way — something very peaceful and rich. You feel content, satisfied.
