In this new episode of "On Tour with Nose", David Benedek, founder of BDK Parfums, presents two fragrances that capture the essence of nocturnal Paris.

Gris Charnel is rooted in a particular idea of Paris: a nocturnal Paris, with dimmed lights and conversations that linger. An elegance that doesn't seek to seduce too openly, but leaves a trace.

The heart of Gris Charnel rests on a deliberate duality: vetiver on one side — deep, earthy, lightly smoky — and sandalwood on the other, creamy, soft, almost milky. Two materials that seem opposites in every way, yet hold together here with remarkable coherence.

Fig slips in a fruity, milky touch within this woody accord — a familiar, slightly green note that humanises the composition. Cardamom, meanwhile, brings the vivacity: spiced, fresh, lightly mentholated, it counterbalances the density of the vetiver and keeps the fragrance from feeling heavy.

Gris Charnel Eau de Parfum is a fragrance of controlled contrast. Neither too dark, nor too light. It settles on the skin with a natural ease — that rare quality that makes you feel not like you're wearing a fragrance, but like you've become it.

The Gris Charnel Extrait reinterprets the Eau de Parfum. Cardamom is more prominent here, making the opening even more vivid, almost electric. From the very first seconds, the Extrait version asserts itself differently.

The real distinction plays out in the base. Two new materials make their appearance: vanilla and patchouli. The vanilla softens the sillage, enriches it, lending a warm opulence that extends the wear on skin. The patchouli adds the carnal, hypnotic dimension the fragrance's name promised — earthy, lightly animalic, it closes the composition around something darker, more intense.
