Nose is delighted to present the new collaboration between Comme des Garçons and Max Richter. Essential composer and musician with billions of streams, he is the author of powerful and poetic soundtracks such as Shutter Island by Martin Scorsese and Ad Astra by James Gray, as well as his celebrated reinterpretation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
From his Oxfordshire studio, the musician worked with perfumer Guillaume Flavigny to develop an olfactory score, much like his sound textures that unfold in subtle and moving layers.
Inspired by the intimate objects of his creative world – the wood of the piano, the rosin of the bows, the graphite of pencils, and the magnetic resonance of tapes – the composition opens with a vivid vibration of aldehydes, black pepper and cumin. The heart softens around earthy vetiver, before sinking into a deep base of patchouli, Atlas cedar and incense, recreating the woody and magnetic atmosphere of his studio.
