In this new episode of “On Tour with Nose,” Benoît Verdier, co-founder of Ex Nihilo Paris, introduces Fleur Narcotique — one of the house’s most iconic creations, available at Nose in both Eau de Parfum and Extrait versions. Two interpretations, one floral signature.
Fleur Narcotique: a commanding presence
Fleur Narcotique is not an ordinary floral fragrance. Its name says it all: something intoxicating, irresistible, beyond simple botanical expression. Ex Nihilo has built an excessive floral accord around peony — overdosed, sensual, and instantly recognizable.
Since its launch, Fleur Narcotique has become one of the house’s signature scents. A fragrance that embodies modern, generous florals unafraid to take up space.
The Eau de Parfum: bergamot, peony, lychee, musk
The Eau de Parfum opens with bergamot — a bright citrus note, slightly tangy, bringing immediate freshness before the heart takes over.
Built around an overdosed peony twisted with a lychee note. The pairing is precise: peony brings floral, powdery roundness, while lychee adds a juicy, almost aquatic fruity dimension.
White musk softly closes the composition. It extends the sillage and leaves a light yet lasting trace on the skin — a base that lingers without weighing it down.
The Extrait: the same flower, taken further
The Extrait does not simply amplify the Eau de Parfum — it reinterprets it. Bergamot is intensified, which may seem paradoxical for an extrait, typically deeper and denser. Here, this excess of bergamot creates a brighter, almost dazzling opening before the composition settles.
Orange blossom enters the composition, bringing a white, slightly creamy, and sensual dimension. The peony is reinforced, sandalwood supports the base, and musk is deepened. The result: a richer, more structured, longer-lasting version on the skin.
Eau de Parfum or Extrait: how to choose?
The Eau de Parfum is an expression of effortless lightness — a fresh floral-fruity scent, ideal for everyday wear in any season. The Extrait is for those seeking a more grounded presence and a stronger sillage.
