تم تأسيس العلامة التجارية عام 1961 على يد ثلاث شخصيات فريدة من نوعها متحدة من خلال كيمياء جمالية قوية: كريستيان مونتادري جوتروت وإيف كوزلانت وديزموند نوكس ليت. إنطلاقا من شغف مشترك بالرسم، قامت النساء الثلاث بإنشاء زخارف للأقمشة وورق الحائط، وقررت فتح متجرها الأول بمدخلين (مثل diptych) في باريس، Boulevard Saint Germain.
