With its sheer skin and golden curls, Aphrodite was born out of a large shell lost in the middle of the island of Cyprus. Her perfume? We imagine her enveloped by the citrus notes of bergamot mixed with jasmine and rose, over an oak moss and musky base ...

This same island had inspired the name of "Cyprus powders", which reached the kings’ courts in the 17th century to perfume the hair and wigs of young ladies. Two centuries later, inspired by the latter, François Coty created Chypre, a perfume that met an enormous success and gave life to an entire olfactory family, the "chyprés".

Today, oak moss is often replaced by patchouli, a raw material from the East recalling the smell of undergrowth.
