Interview with Dhaher BIn Dhaher, the founder and perfumer of the incredible and very sophisticated house perfume TOLA.

What is your motto?

I personally always believed in "what I would like or accept for myself, is also what I would like for others"

What is your first olfactive souvenir?

There are many things which I can consider as a souvenir, but the best ones which are retained in mind are the ones linked to my first journey.

How would you differentiate TOLA from other oriental brands? What is unique?

Every brand has its own concept and story behind it, but the difference with Tola is that it was more of a personal thing to me, inspired by my family, and developed with family members either mother, sister or niece which makes it unique in terms of the passion we all shared in it.

Your mother has been great inspiration of your brand? Your sister is involved in the creation process. Can you tell us more about how they have been involved with you?

Their support was very important to me especially that they were the major part of creating Tola. We all worked together in the creations and testing part. The only added part to them is me doing all the research and what we can call "leg work".

Can you describe to us what is the Bukhoor? How do you develop it? When it will be available for NOSE and our customers?

Bukhoor is basically the Arabic version of agarwood dust mixed and soaked with perfume oils. The main thing in creating it is choosing the right agarwood which grinded into a powder form and mixed with the right oils that has a nice burning effect or smell. Currently I'm developing new smells of Bukhoor to have different types other than typical "Emirati" smell. I foresee them being available soon at Nose for their customers to experience.

Who have designed the drawings for your brands? Why having asked this person? What was the inspiration?

Basically Tola was all about using talents within the family and combining our passion in one thing and that made it close to our hearts. Both my nieces were involved in the designing aspects "Sheikha bin Dhaher" and "Afra bin Dhaher" who always amazed me with their work. As for inspiration I can deduce it in one word "memories".

What are your next pieces of creation?

Well I'm always working on new things but never in a hurry to launch them especially that I'm new and like to focus on the current creations. But at the same time I like to keep things as a surprise.
