Nicolas Beaulieu shares here his most beautiful childhood memory, lived in a place outside of time. The Country Home candle is in line with the Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle candles with its white ceramic dress, which reminds us of the softness of snowflakes and the decorations on the windows of houses. The red interior contrasts perfectly with the brightness of the red Christmas baubles that have just been hung on the branches of the tree.
Nicolas Beaulieu offers here a clever blend of smoky notes. Its particularity? Powerful scents of styrax, a very fragrant resin from a tree called "aliboufier". With its resolutely dark accents, the trail of the candle brings a leathery, animal side that blends perfectly with the woody notes of cedar present in the base notes. The power and depth of the base notes, and its more minimalist top notes, make the accord particularly lively and intense.
It's a bit like a memory. That of a weekend full of laughter and gaiety in a large family house with a slightly old-fashioned decor, lost in the Scottish moors. The setting is set, we paid attention to the smallest detail: the fire that blazes generously, the thick mist that sifts nature with a pallid veil, the generous flames that crackle the logs, the warmth of a day with friends, the large stones of the hearth blackened by the years. It really looks like a movie scene in odorama. The smells converge, touch and then mix, expressing the softest comfort: weathered leather, warm cedar and pine needles.
Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle
Coming from a famous family of artists, Frédéric Malle represents the third generation of perfume specialists. His grandfather, Serge Heftler-Louiche, was the founder of Parfums Christian Dior before handing over the position to his daughter, the mother of Frédéric Malle, who took the artistic direction. In order to relaunch the art of high perfumery, Frédéric Malle founded his brand in 2000 and offers carte blanche to the greatest perfumers of our time, that he had met during his 25 years of experience. Dominique Ropion, Jean-Claude Ellena and Olivia Giacobetti are some of the perfumeurs that have signed his olfactory creations.
