Interview with Romano Ricci, perfumer and founder of the brand "Juliette has a Gun" and also co-founder of Nose. Successfully managing the Juliette Has a Gun brand, developing the products and fragrances itself, it reminds perfumes of what they should always be: emblems of style and originality.

What is your motto?

Romano "Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist". I do not know who this quote is but it suits me pretty well. I have always liked to live according to my own rules, to question, to question existing precepts and to check if they do not need to be adjusted ... A long and tedious job to be honest ... (laughs).

Your experience ? How did you come to be interested in perfumery?

Romano I am an autodidact. No journey to ISIPCA or other sisters, it is by practice that I arrived at my goals. I worked 7 years in perfumery before embarking on the adventure. At France fragrance for 3 years, but also in contact with perfumers such as Pierre Bourdon, Francis Kurkdjian, Isabelle Maillebiau or Philippe Romano who taught me a lot.

How did you come up with the idea of creating "Juliette has a gun"? Is it really ?!

Romano The desire to talk about Romanticism, without the pompous side.

In my opinion, perfume is closely linked to seduction. In the same way that can be fashion, makeup or hairstyle. A way of defining oneself externally. But I found that there was a more modern, less utopian, more fun way to talk about it. Because there is also humor in my work, even if it is composed with rigor.

Why did you create Oil fiction? Why a new bottle? A new logo? Who is he talking to ?

Romano Oil Fiction is above all a fantasy of quality. I do not always have the opportunity to use all the materials I want because some are really expensive! Here, I have set no limits other than those of accuracy and elegance. After, it's mostly a story of envy and everything I do does not necessarily make sense.

At the dawn of Valentine's Day, what are the tips of the perfect gentlemen for his Juliet?

Romano To be honest I think it's one of the least romantic days of the year. Simply because it is fixed in advance, and therefore I find that it lacks a little spontaneity, natural. Ingredients essential to the beauty of a relationship ... do not you think? My advice ? Surprise first of all.

Your next project? A perfume line for men?

Romano Romeo is Bullet proof? No never. I wish that the universe of Juliette remains exclusively feminine.
