One hundred years ago, in 1925, D'Orsay launched an iconic fragrance: Dandy. Complex, ambitious and innovative, this suave juice blended rum, whiskey and yellow fruits at the top, followed by a spicy heart of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and cardamom, to finally finish on deeper woody notes of tonka, tobacco, patchouli, sandalwood and benzoin. This combination of such novelty makes Dandy a textbook case.

This year, D'Orsay commissioned Sidonie Lancesseur to revisit this iconic fragrance: from a spicy sweet fragrance, she retains the substance of the spices and adds a very present tangy note. Cardamom and black pepper tickle the nostrils at the top, which is immediately calmed by grape. In the heart, the Tunisian orange blossom counterbalances the black tea. The leather in the background balances this florality, in agreement with the cedar wood and patchouli. In short, a woody leathery, where the sweet Dandy of 1925 becomes a Dandy Or Not Dandy G.A. spicy and acidulous.

Piquant and tangy, these are its character traits. Consecrated as such two hundred years ago, Alfred Grimaud, the original surname of Alfred d'Orsay, is the archetypal dandy. Fascinating and seductive, he does not like conventions. Gifted and visionary, he is free of all protocol. Between woody impertinence and leathery elegance. A duality of noble and authentic materials that casually shows that he is free. Free to choose. To be a dandy or not to be one.
