Society of Scents: the founders
Jean-Claude Delville began studying perfumery at the age of 17. He lives in Manhattan where he enjoys walking and exploring New York's ever-changing cityscape and sometimes unexplored gardens. For its health and mental benefits, he enjoys running. It is a way to stimulate his imagination and creativity. He has worked for major international groups such as Quest, Créations Aromatiques, IFF, Firmenich, Symrise and more recently for Drom. Jean-Claude has created recognized and timeless fragrances for famous designers and fashion houses: Jean Couturier, Gres, Givenchy, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, Jo Malone, and Vera Wang. His creation Clinique Happy (1998) entered the Fragrance Foundation's Hall of Fame in 2014. In 2017, Jean-Claude Delville co-founded The Society of Scent, an innovative digital platform dedicated to fragrance culture, with his own laboratory located in the South Bronx.
For over 30 years, Nathalie has been a niche perfumer for top companies like Givaudan and Symrise. A graduate of the prestigious Givaudan Roure perfumery school (1983-1986) in Grasse, she is currently an independent perfumer. She learned from the famous master perfumer Jean Martin and was inspired by another great name in French perfumery, Jean Amic. She started her career in New York in the 90's and opened the doors of Estée Lauder for Givaudan, while working with consultant Ann Gottlieb. She fell in love with the city and, back in France, kept that special feeling for New York. Nathalie loves to capture the tastes of the world, from America to Dubai, from Russia to Europe. It was in Montmartre that she created Lab-Scent and set up her independent laboratory in a former art gallery. With her international reputation and her perfume creations, Nathalie composes ever more creative fragrances for international niche brands all over the world.
